Thorsborg, Ltd. is a non-profit corporation that provides resources for research, training, education, analysis and operational support for educational opportunities in the arts and sciences.
 

Thorsborg, Ltd.’s core activity is to create resources for marine research and educational programs for analysis and training of marine research personal whilst conducting studies for sustainable development databases of coastal and pelagic regions.

Training programs include courses on seamanship, diving, submersible operation and strategic policy/planning for maritime operations. Training of youth includes sponsorship of Sea Scout programs; financial grant assistance for certified training programs in SCUBA, marine biology, sailing/seamanship training and other participatory courses. Students will receive theoretical classroom training and the opportunity to participate in a multitude of water borne projects.

The Earth is covered by the oceans, yet mankind’s knowledge of the interactions and the ecological needs of this vast resource are barely known. Centuries of development have impacted on the littoral coastal zone of the oceans, and there are few, if any, data sources that can be used to measure the existing conditions to establish a baseline to gauge further ecological impact. Thorsborg, Ltd. was created to provide funds and resources to enable students and researchers experience the opportunity to conduct actual oceanographic and marine sciences research on and/or beneath the coastal waters.

Thorsborg’s work will give hope and greater academic/career opportunities to high  school and college students and assist our schools and government by opening up  discoveries about the physical characteristics of the marine environment and the tools  needed to be used to conduct analysis of this vital natural resource. Thorsborg will  provide grants, resources and eventually research vessels and equipment for use in  marine and oceanographic studies.
